When Dupree’s Diamond News planned to publish Garcia: A Grateful Celebration, they asked me to create a cover that communicated the timeless essence of Jerry Garcia’s style with his ability to transcend and explore new musical spaces. I developed the concept of Garcia as the “Old Master” based on these considerations.
